Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and a commentator working as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She received an Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania after growing up in New York City. Mitchell joined KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976 she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). She became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. From 1981 onwards she began covering the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. She was named Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News. Mitchell participated on the TV show Meet the Press and also hosted the program. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005 at the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg the award in 2004 for her role in protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began reporting on the White House in 1981-1988, and during the presidency of Ronald Reagan. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news issues, such as the arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to many summits with the help of President Reagan along with Mikhail Gorbachev.
